Finally! A ray of hope! Thank you to rori was wrong for letting me know that Constantine Maroulis is back in the fold, and thanks to all who enjoyed the article. It’s nice to know my obnoxious righteous indignation is appreciated. I am just thrilled for the board members and for Constantine. It takes a whole lotta energy to stay angry, isn’t it better to just kiss and make up?  I’m cracking open a fresh Diet Coke and toasting to your continued lovefest… Now, back to the soapbox pulpit…
Maybe I was wrong and the world isn’t going to implode from the weight of the hatred that’s been thrown around recently. It’s true -  I am utterly, completely, and proudly melodramatic, but this has not been a good week for me and my tendencies toward moral outrage. The Carrie Underwood/Faith Hill flap will just not go away and it is making me crazy.
Have you seen what people are saying about Faith Hill? She is an “over the hill diva”, “past her prime”, “bitter”, etc. Even on her Myspace page, her supposed fans are saying horrible things!  Can you imagine being Faith and waking up to that? I’d be thinking, “You ungrateful bastards! I’ve been working for 20 years to make you people happy? I’ve given up my privacy, lived on a tour bus, signed a million autographs, performed sick and in the rain, touched a thousand hands, and smiled as though my life depended on it for this?”  Certainly years in the spotlight have hardened her to criticism, but this whole incident must have hurt her deeply. Yes, she is rich and famous and that has certain perks, but she’s also earned it!  She’s earned it by making people happy not because she was robbing banks or scamming seniors. Â
In the land of the “haves” and “have nots”, the “have nots” are so incredibly jealous of the “haves” they are just itching to see someone, anyone, with money and fame get their ‘comeuppance’. Aren’t these the very same people who gladly shell out $50 for a concert ticket? Aren’t the “have nots” responsible for creating the “haves”? Is it logical then to begrudge them for their fame and wealth? I don’t understand why it is socially acceptable to take so much pleasure in another’s downfall simply because they are rich and famous. I don’t understand why it is socially acceptable to talk smack about another simply because they are rich and famous. Faith Hill doesn’t deserve the rudeness, cruelty, pettiness, and judgement from the small-minded, small-hearted, envious people of this country. All she has ever done is entertain and brought joy to millions of people. Can’t we all take Constantine’s lead and kiss and make up? Please? My righteous indignation can’t take much more…

Has America completely lost their sense of humor? In a country where George W. Bush is still the President, how could that possibly be? This firestorm of controversy surrounding Faith Hill’s reaction to Carrie Underwood’s win for Best Female Vocalist of the Year is utterly ridiculous. Faith Hill is a seasoned professional, a notorious goofball, and by all accounts, an extremely kind and loving woman. I didn’t see her reaction live - I “read” it on the boards - and I admit to being shocked and incredulous that Faith would behave that way. When I finally had the chance to see the “incident”, it was SO obvious she was joking, I couldn’t believe it was ever an issue. Â
In what has to be the Biggest Bonehead Move of the Year, LeAnn Rimes posted this on her website, only to remove it an hour later:
Ok, I usually keep quiet on topics like this but I feel I need to stand up for my friend, Faith. She was just being honest and emotional like
Congratulations Carrie! Carrie Underwood took home the Horizon Award and Best Female Vocalist of the Year Monday night at the 40th Annual Country Music Awards. Carrie looked absolutely stunning in her bling dress and her “barely there” performance dress (thankfully only) showed off her legs. She’s a gorgeous girl and has obviously been working out so I say if you’ve got it, flaunt it. Anyhoo…Carrie sang her newest single, Read the rest of this entry »
Tonight’s the night! The Country Music Association Awards air live at 8E/7C on ABC. This is Carrie Underwood’s night to shine - literally…she’s wearing an 850K diamond-studded dress (and possibly Anthony Federov on her arm) - she will be performing, and Carrie is nominated for 4 awards including Female Vocalist.  Award predictions, more here, and here, are mixed, but the consensus is Carrie is a shoo-in for The Horizon Award. I’m not sure what song Carrie will be performing, but could it possibly top her “Jesus Take The Wheel” performance on the ACM’s earlier this year when she became so overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude she barely finished the song? She was breathtaking, endearing, and vocally dead-on that night as I’m sure she will be tonight.Â
Keep an eye out for Kellie Pickler doing interviews on the Red Carpet for CMT.com and as a presenter. Kellie interviewing? Hmmm…someone should make sure Kellie knows to let the interviewee talk - that girl is a one-woman hen party! Get the cows in the barn, the horses in the stable, and the popcorn on the table - the party is on!
Carrie Underwood will be wearing a custom-designed gown created by Kwiat Diamonds and David Rodriguez to the Country Music Association Awards on November 6th. The gown is constructed with nearly 800 Kwiat diamonds on the straps, and is valued at approximately $850,000. The dress will be auctioned online at GOTTAHAVEIT.com starting November 29th with portions of the proceeds going to HSUS and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
I really don’t know what to make of this. On the one hand, Carrie is Read the rest of this entry »
Carrie Underwood confesses in an interview with After MidNite that the Dodge truck she destroyed in the “Before He Cheats” video was pretty much on its last legs. “We were looking for vehicles and we couldn’t just go out and buy a new vehicle to smash up, but we definitely wanted to actually have a vehicle there, instead of doing everything [with] a computer or whatever, so they found this Dodge that was pretty much brand new and had been in a wacky accident on one side. So one side of the truck was just demolished, and the other side was perfect. I think it cost us like sixty-something dollars to get that truck there. They just charged us the towing fee, so it was like $68.” Carrie also admits to being “leery” of recording the song and is careful “not to condone violence.”
Boy, does Bo Bice and his fans have a friend in Uncleshag! 75 lucky fans were able to call in to a special podcast and wish Bo a happy 31st birthday as well as hear some songs and samples from their favorite rocker.  By the sound of the callers, the average age of a Bo fan seems to be about 45.  I don’t actually have a point, it’s just an observation, so please don’t flame me. Besides, fan are fans and I’m sure Bo isn’t complaining! Here is my birthday wish for you - stay the heck out of the hospital this year, will ya?
Here’s a follow-up to the story about some FFA members planning a walkout of the Carrie Underwood concert at the National FFA Convention: They managed to get 1,000 out of 20,000 people to walk out of the concert. I’m sure they all felt good about themselves for standing up for their beliefs, exercising their rights, had a great celebration dinner at the local Denny’s and yukked it up, “Boy, we showed her!” “We sure did Earl!”   Meanwhile, the other 19,000 people at the concert enjoyed a terrific show and didn’t waste one millisecond thinking about the protesters or their cause. I won’t deny the importance of activism in our country and the world, but for this particular event, it sure didn’t seem to amount to much.
