Having an all-stars show has worked for other big name reality TV shows – Survivor, Big Brother; will American Idol be next? Nigel Lythgoe, an American Idol producer, spoke with the media on February 8, 2007 and addressed that question. Rumors have been bouncing around the web of a song-writing competition that will be the next American Idol’s first release. Instead of debuting the song on final night only to have Randy Jackson shoot it down Lythgoe has proposed to the Fox network that they bring back ten finalists from years past to perform songs and let us, the fans, vote on the best song.
During the interview Lythgoe specifically mentioned that he would like to see Constantine Maroulis, Ace Young, Vonzell, and Tamyra Gray perform. I wonder who else would get the invitation back and if they would accept. Personally, I would love to see Kevin Covais and Scott Savol back. I loved the soulful voices of those two. If you had to pick ten former Idol finalists to return sometime this season – who would you choose? Sound off on the Idolwire.com Forums.
