Double Elimination on American Idol

Two contestants will be going home tonight and with no save available (used last week on Michael Lynche), they will be going home for sure.  Over 34,000,000 votes were cast last night making that the record amount for this season.

Season 7′s Brooke White and Justin Gaston (Miley Cyrus’s ex-boyfriend) sang If I Can Dream.  They did a phenomenal, beautiful rendition that probably would have made Elvis himself proud.  The  song can be downloaded for free on iTunes.

Also performing for America was Adam Lambert (last year’s runner-up) who was the mentor for the week.  He performed his hit song What Do You Want From Me.  The act was accompanied by a lot smoke and green laser lights.  It was a pretty tame show from the guy who cause a lot of controversy at the 2009 AMAs.  He did have on plenty of makeup on and blue tips on top of his very high hair.

Ryan brought the final two down to Michael Lynche and Katie Stevens and announced that one would be going home and the other wasn’t even in the bottom 3 tonight.  Because of the save last week, the drama and tension was high in those few seconds before we found out who was safe.

Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens were not lucky tonight.  Both were eliminated.

Next week the contestants will be singing ‘inspirational’ songs to celebrate Idol Gives Back. Also, Alicia Keys will be mentoring the contestants for the week.
