Elvis was featured on the show tonight. He is the inspiration for the night. To get a feel for The King, the top nine took a trip to Vegas, walked the strip, and watched Cirque du Soleil. All songs performed will be one of Elvis’ tonight.
Adam Lambert was the mentor for the week. He’s the first contestant to ever return to be a mentor on the show. He can actually give a little more than some other mentors because he has been through the process where others have not. He knows what it’s like to be in front of the judges and can point the contestants in the right direction to please the judges. His advice for the contestants was to be more showy like the Elvis would have been. Adam definitely knows about being a showman.
Everyone needs to vote for this next elimination because two people are going home this week! Very important week to get those votes in!
Crystal Bowersox – Saved
- Randy – “You have energy, it was dope. You’ve got this whole blues cool vibe going on, I thought I was listening to somebody’s record. You coulda been the second coming over like Bonnie Raitt or something.”
- Ellen – “It was fantastic.”
- Kara – “It was just another solid performance.”
- Simon – “You didn’t choose an obvious song. You chose something that suited you.”
Andrew Garcia – Hound Dog
- Randy – “That was definitely not good karaoke. I didn’t like it. I didn’t get it at all.”
- Ellen – “I wish you had put a little more swagger into it.” “I thought you pulled it off.”
- Kara – “I wanted to feel more from the performance.”
- Simon – “It was lazy, unpredictable.” “It didn’t feel like the star performance.” All of your coolness is being sucked out of you right now.”
Tim Urban – Can’t Help Falling in Love
- Randy – “I actually liked it.”
- Ellen – “I can’t help falling in love with you, Tim.” “Beautiful.”
- Kara – “Probably my favorite Tim performance ever. It was authentic, real, from your heart, current, singer-songwriter….”
- Simon – “You have managed to go from zero to hero in two weeks.”
Lee DeWyze – A Little Less Conversation
- Randy – “You were definitely in the zone.” “Another great, amazing performance.”
- Ellen – “You made that so current. It really sounded like a brand new song.”
- Kara – “You really went for it and I loved it.” “The vocal was fire.”
- Simon – “That was on the money, full stop.”
Aaron Kelly - Blue Suede Shoes
- Randy – “It started off kinda weird, I didn’t like the first half but when you broke into the high-time, the whole blues thing, I think it fit your voice better.”
- Ellen – “I don’t think you got all the way there.”
- Kara – “You’re out of your comfort zone and I like it.” “You seemed younger.”
- Simon – “I don’t think it made you younger, I think it did the opposite.” “It was kinda what it was which is like somebody at a high school doing a concert at the end.” “It was very karaoke.”
Siobhan Magnus - Suspicious Minds
- Randy – “That girl can sing right there.”
- Ellen – “I like the second half a lot more than I like the first half.” “You really have a beautiful voice.”
- Kara – “It’s getting confusing for me.” “I wasn’t crazy about it.”
- Simon – “It was like you were put into a time machine and you came back in twenty years time, that’s what it came over. This was like a completely different person who I’d seen…” “The first part of the song was terrible.” “Very erratic, very screechy.”

- Ellen – “It was a very horny song. A lot of horns in it.” “And you can sing, it was great.”
- Kara – “I think you showed us judges.”
- Simon - “I just found it very loud, a bit annoying.”
Casey James – Lawdy Miss Claudy
- Randy – “I didn’t see anything different but it’s another solid performance from you.”
- Ellen – “I love your voice, you look great, you look comfortable surrounded by a whole sea of women over there.” “It wasn’t as exciting as I would have liked to have seen but you’re always good.”
- Kara – “That fell short to me.”
- Simon – “A wasted opportunity with a song that was completely forgettable but your vocal was good.”
