Miley Cyrus Mentors: Top 11 Perform Billboard’s #1 Hits

The contestants have to do well tonight if they want to go on tour for American Idol.  Only the top 10 get to go.  Who will it be?

Seventeen year old Miley Cyrus offered the contestants her opinions.  She served as the mentor for the week.  She may be qualified for the position since she has been doing it herself for so long now and also because her father is Billy Ray Cyrus, whom Casey James is a big fan of evidently.  Although, some may argue that she is just a young, know-nothing teen.  She sat in the audition for the show, chomping on the gum in her mouth.  She will be performing on the results show tomorrow.

Lee Dewyze – The Letter by The Box Tops

• Simon – “That, to me, was not a recording performance.  That was you doing something quite corny.”
• Randy – “You knocked it out of the box.”
• Kara – “You’ve raised the bar for yourself.  I’ve never heard you sound better, look more comfortable, you’re finally owning the stage.”  “The progress is tremendous.”  “Believe that you’re good.”
• Ellen – “My favorite pen is back.  That was fantastic.”

• Simon – “It was like there were 5 of you singing that some and it got progressively worse with each one.”   “You stopped believing in yourself.”
• Randy -”That was honestly terrible.”  “There was nothing about it that was great.” “Nothing came together at all.”
• Kara – “Somewhere along the line I think you stopped competing and you stopped listening to what we were saying.”  “It was the worst vocal that I have heard from you and possibly the season.”
• Ellen – “You didn’t fall down, and that is a good thing.”  “You look stunning.”

• Simon – “It was completely and utterly pointless and silly.”  “You’ve got zero chance of winning right now.”
• Randy – “The vocals were so boring.”  “It was like bad karaoke.”
• Kara -”It was Zac Efron and Hairspray.”  “Little girls will love that.”  “You acted like you were already made it, you haven’t, you have a lot of work to do.”
• Ellen – “It felt like it was audition for High School Musical.”  “It was corny, pushed too hard.”  “I didn’t get it.”

• Simon – “It was very brave.”  “You’re making yourself old-fashioned.”  “There is zero chance you are gonna go home.”
• Randy – “It wasn’t a perfect performance.”  “Thank God that you came on the stage and started singing because the 2 before you , I was like ‘what’s going on tonight?’ “  “You’re really talented.”  “I’m a fan.”
• Kara – “Best song choice of the night.”  “You really know how to pick a song.”
• Ellen – “That was a perfect song choice for you.”  “You have such an amazing voice.”  “I see your career already.”

• Simon – “I wouldn’t change anything.”  “I’ve heard Pink sing her version of that song which is one of the best versions I’ve heard and that was as good as that.”  “You’re only gimmick is a carpet.”
• Randy – “That what’s called being a star!  And a dope singer!  Right there, that’s the way you do it!  You come out, play it, sing well, and it’s in your heart.”
• Kara – “I wanna see you let go even more than this week.”

• Kara – “I feel bad for you.”  “You don’t know what to do up there, you’re really confused, and that’s what I’m getting from you.”  “I don’t know who that was.”

• Ellen – “Best vocal of the night.  I thought you sounded great.”

Didi Benami - You’re No Good by Linda Ronstadt

• Simon – “There was a sort of certain irony, you screeching out ‘you’re no good.’ “   “It was like a musical, the bad part.”  “It didn’t sound like it was you.”
• Randy – “It never quite caught.  You never got the pitch right.”
• Kara – “I felt like you were playing a character.  It felt very dramatic almost.”  “It didn’t feel like it was  you.”  “It left me confused.”
• Ellen – “Not the right song choice.”
