This week’s mentor was singer and pianist Alicia Keys, chose because of her uplifting type of music. The theme for tonight is ’song of inspiration’ to celebrate Idol Gives Back. She is good at bringing out the emotions that belong to a song.

- Randy - “It was a good performance, it wasn’t your best performance.”
- Ellen - “You’re consistently good but I don’t think anyone will be talking about that tomorrow.”
- Kara - “It’s like jam-band.” “You made yourself like every body else tonight.”
- Simon - “That wasn’t particularly inspiring, zero emotion.” “You just stood there and played the guitar again, sang the song pretty much like the original, umm, which meant there was no originality.”

- Ellen - “We’re seeing better and better from you which is surprising because I already think you’re great.”

- Kara - “By the end it was like, alright he got there.”
- Simon - “If we’d had hear that on the radio, I would have turned it off within 10 seconds because it wasn’t very good.”

- Randy - “It was just okay for me.”
- Ellen - “That’s just more confirmation for why you’re here.”
- Kara - “It’s not a musical and it started to feel very dramatic.” “I still don’t know who you are.”
- Simon - “Not the right song for you.” “I found the whole thing to be a bit odd, a bit all over the place really, it’s a shame.”
