Thirty-two million votes were cast and in the end sixteen were left standing. One definite surprise was AJ Tabaldo falling in the bottom two. During the announcements it was down to AJ and Sanjaya Malakar and upon hearing that he was safe Malakar looked absolutely stunned. AJ Tabaldo did a good job on Tuesday night eliciting such comments as “I have to say that was nearly very good” from Simon Cowell. Coming from Cowell that is a compliment indeed. The other guy to get the proverbial boot was Nick Pedro – his version of “Fever” wasn’t enough to bring in the votes he needed to stay.
Now on to the ladies – guess what, future Playboy model (I’m just guessing here!) is safe, yes fans we’re lucky we get to hear Antonella Barba compare herself to Jennifer Hudson yet another week. Alaina Alexander was the first to hear the bad news and I really felt bad for the girl because she was such a mess she couldn’t perform her song that one last time. She had the rest of the ladies come out to help her and even the background singers stepped it up a bit but she just couldn’t be saved. She was obviously quite emotional. The other lady to be cut was Leslie Hunt; evidently her smooth and jazzy style isn’t what America is looking for in its Idol.
