Booted Idol Candidates Sound Off On Barba

Three of last week’s booted American Idol contestants sounded off on the Antonella Barba sex scandal. Before I write what they said I’d like to say that they sounded like they were told what to keep their comments positive. They all seemed like a bunch of bubble gum responses. The three were questioned by MTV after being voted off of American Idol last week.

Alaina Alexander was asked by MTV “Were you ever nervous that private pictures of you might hit the Web?” Her bubble gum answer; “No, I wasn’t worried. It’s unfortunate when that happens, but you have to keep going. I didn’t really pay attention to the Internet or newspaper so I could stay focused, but I overheard people talking about it. Antonella’s strong and doing just fine and she’ll pull through.”

Up next was Leslie Hunt who was asked “Was it hard to see Antonella get through?” Now I know Hunt’s insides were screaming “Yes it sucked seeing her get through!” No, no, that’s not what we heard from Hunt, instead she said “There’s certain hype that comes with her, and that’s not really something I understand. It doesn’t excite me that she has pictures like that. I mean, who doesn’t? Whatever, get over it. But I knew getting into this that it wasn’t just about singing.” So she got a little jab in there with the “it wasn’t just about singing” comment implying that Barba’s singing wasn’t what kept her there.

AJ Tabaldo was also questioned on the Barba ordeal and he simply said “There’s some sleazy people out there doing sleazy things and I feel bad for her, but she’s beautiful and she’s going to do well. But we tried to stay away from it.” Okay he said tried, does that mean he and the other guys hit the web and checked out Barba’s non-vocal assets?
