Lakisha Jones – “You laid it out!”

If you’ve been under a rock since last night and don’t know what I’m talking about then crawl out from under that rock and watch Lakisha Jones’ February 21st American Idol performance on YouTube. Warning – the video is pretty choppy but the vocals are crystal clear. Ready your ears for the beautiful stylings of Lakisha Jones.

Jones owned the song; it was a flawless performance and I don’t think there is a thing she could have done better. Randy Jackson said “You laid it out! Jennifer Hudson watch out!” Wow, now that is a compliment, JHud has shown us this year just how talented she is. The biggest compliment, in my opinion, came from Simon Cowell “I’m very tempted to say to 23 people book your plane ticket home” said Cowell as he put his hands behind his head, leaned back, and smiled. He was proud of this AI moment, as he very well should be. Lakisha Jones has stepped it up and set that bar higher than many of the contestants could ever hope to reach.
