Twenty-seven year-old Lakisha Jones from Fort Meade, MD wowed the judges with Aretha Franklin’s “Think” in New York City. Upon completion of her song Simon Cowell immediately chimed in “I love this girl, love you Lakisha”. Evidently his love continued through the Hollywood round as Jones not only made the top 40 but the famed top 24. If I had to go out on a limb I’d say Jones is primed for a top five finish, not just top five females, but top five…overall. She has a fantastic voice, a great personality, wonderful stage presence, and can perform.
AmericanIdol.com has bios up for the top 24; here are a few tidbits about Lakisha Jones. Evidently Jones is a tried and true American Idol fan as her favorite female pop artist is Kelly Clarkson. Good choice! *wink* She’s been singing since the age of five and is trained in both classical and opera. I would absolutely love to her Jones sing a classical tune; my bet is it would be magic. Being a diplomat when asked which is her favorite American Idol judge she responds “I don’t have a favorite. They all have been very kind to me.” Read Lakisha Jones’ AI bio; also check out her video interview.
